ICRA NEWS!!
On behalf of ICRA we would like to welcome the members for the 2008-2009 year and encourage everyone else to please support your association through your membership or willingness to volunteer with the tasks of the association.
At the business meeting held in
Post Falls, Idaho, in May, Nicole Omsberg was re-elected as President, Ronelle Corbey was elected as Vice President, and Kim Saunders will stay on as Secretary-Treasurer.
We will be asking for volunteers to help plan the next seminar as well as fundraising and other duties. So if interested, please contact us.
Also, suggestions for seminar topics, dates, places, etc., are always welcomed.
We are proud to report that our seminar in
Post Falls, Idaho, this past May was a tremendous success. We would like to thank all of those that attended. It was great to finally put faces to the northern reporters and to meet reporters from the surrounding areas. We will have pictures from the seminar posted on the ICRA website in the near future.
While official court reporters in
Idaho aren’t facing serious problems at this time with being replaced with digital recording, it was disheartening to learn that the official court reporters in King County Washington will be replaced by digital recording through attrition in the future. This is yet another reason we need to stick together, keep the lines of communication open, and strive to become an indispensable part of the legal community.
On that note, we would encourage all of the reporters in the state of Idaho to obtain either their Registered Professional Reporter, Certified Realtime Reporter, or Registered Merit Reporter designation as a way of exceeding the expectations of our clients, whoever they might be, attend seminars, classes, conventions, and share with others the knowledge you acquire. Instead of thinking of ourselves and the work on our own plate, be conscientious of the bigger picture, the reporting community as a whole. Ask yourselves what am I doing to promote my profession? What can I improve on? How do others perceive me? Challenge yourselves. Let’s be proactive. Sometimes it only takes one bad apple to spoil the punch.
The online direct member voting for NCRA president/issues will be conducted on Thursday, July 24, 2008, after NCRA’s Annual Business Meeting. To vote please make sure your NCRA contact information is up to date.
If anyone is attending NCRA’s National Convention, please let us know what you learn so we can share it with our members.
Thank you for your support,
